All proceeds go to the Class of 2011 to help them get to
Washington DC next year. International Day:
International Day will be on Friday, May 21st.
I think First Grade will be doing Italy.
If you have any ideas, and/or decorations please let me know. Math Facts:
Last four addition facts will be introduced this week (8+3,
8+4, 8+5, 8+6) please practice at home. Homework: Parents, please correct your child’s homework every night. I only have a handful of students who turn in perfect homework every day. I do try to make you child correct the mistake in class but 1. We don’t have time in class to do homework and 2. I don’t correct the homework right away so your child will make the same mistake for days until the homework is corrected. It is also important that you set high standards for your child. I know that not every child has “neat” writing but you and I know what is “neat” for your child. Students are turning in spelling sentences with three words i.e. I am happy. I like birds. These sentences are not acceptable for students who are almost 2nd graders. I still have students who are not writing 10 sentences and who are not underlining the spelling words. Some children are writing the spelling words incorrectly 3 times and if you don’t catch the mistake that is how they write it on the spelling test. I know we have many things going on in our lives but we have to remember our children come first. ** Please
continue to send in Box Tops, Campbell Soup Labels, and eggshells.**
